Egypt and Japan have concluded significant agreements in Cairo to strengthen financial cooperation and reschedule Egyptian monetary debts, according to the Egyptian Gazette on 29 April 1973.
The accords were signed by Dr Abdul Aziz Hegazy, Deputy Prime Minister, and Mr Michitoshi Takahashi, the Japanese Ambassador. Under the financial cooperation agreement, Japan will provide assistance worth 3,080 million Yen ($11 million) with a twenty-year maturity period.
Furthermore, a new arrangement has been established for the repayment of existing Egyptian debts over a seven-year period.
