Remarkable archaeological discoveries have been unveiled at the Step Pyramid complex in 1926, offering new insights into the Third Dynasty.
Excavations have fully exposed a magnificent colonnade of fluted stone columns leading to the pyramid’s entrance. Experts believe the site also contains the funerary chapel of Princess Intkaes, daughter of King Zoser. These structures, remarkable for their refined masonry, are now recognised as some of the oldest stone monuments in existence. The entire site is protected by a massive limestone wall, which remains largely intact.
