Cairo, Wednesday, 28 April 1926 — Lieutenant-Commander R.E. Byrd, U.S.N., leader of the American expedition to the North Pole, passed the Throndhjem Fjord on Sunday aboard his vessel, the Chantier. The commander is accompanied by Mr Floyd Bennett, who will act as pilot for the monoplane flight attempt. The expedition consists of forty-six volunteers, including dedicated seamen, airmen, and mechanics, all committed to reaching the polar destination.
