Egypt condemns missile attack on UAE tanker in Strait of Hormuz

Egypt on Saturday condemned in the strongest terms an attack on an oil tanker operated by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) as it transited the Strait of Hormuz.
The attack, carried out with a missile, posed a serious threat to maritime security and the freedom of trade through one of the world’s most important waterways. Egypt’s foreign ministry said in a statement.

Egypt seeks year-round flights to boost tourism on Mediterranean coast

Egypt’s civil aviation minister has called for year-round domestic flights to Mersa Matrouh International Airport, as authorities seek to expand tourism and investment along the country’s northwestern Mediterranean coast.

Minister Sameh El Hefny discussed measures to increase air traffic with Matrouh Governor Mohamed El Zamlout, tourism officials, hotel operators and representatives of travel companies during a visit to the coastal city, the Civil Aviation Ministry said in a statement on Saturday.

Iran: Hormuz deal close, but won’t open waterway alone

Iran said on Saturday that a deal with Oman on control of the Strait of Hormuz was close but would not be enough to free up the waterway, and the United Arab Emirates said Iran had hit another ship there.

A US official, who declined to be identified, said on Friday that Washington anticipated ‌an agreement soon between Iran and Oman, which sit on either side of the strait, so that normal oil traffic could resume.

Russia strikes vessels, military sites in Odesa, Mykolaiv

Russia ‌continued strikes on Ukrainian port infrastructure and vessels supporting the Ukrainian ​military, Russia’s Defence Ministry ​said on Saturday.

The ministry said ⁠Russian forces used precision ​air-launched weapons and attack drones to ​hit military warehouses containing communications and electronic warfare equipment in the ​Black Sea port of Odesa.

Nighttime ‘coffee frog’ found in Costa Rica

Measuring less than four centimetres and known as the “spring frog,” AFP reporters observed the dark green-spotted amphibians in San Lorenzo de Tarrazu.

“It’s a new species of tree frog for science, and endemic to Costa Rica,” researcher Wagner Chaves-Acuna told AFP, per the findings of colleagues from the University of Costa Rica and Argentina’s National Council for Scientific and Technical Research.
