Late-stage breast cancer is on the decline, a ministerial announcement said on Sunday.
The Ministry of Health and Population announced the incidence of breast cancer in later stages fell from 58.5 per cent to 29.5 per cent, thanks to early diagnosis, within an initiative by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to improve women’s health.
The initiative has pushed the development of a system to diagnose and treat various cancers using modern scientific methods, Health Ministry Spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said.
Since the launch of the initiative in July 2019, around 29 million women over 18 were examined with the latest medical equipment.
More than 3,500 clinics nationwide and 114 state-run hospitals offer women regular check-ups, the spokesman said.
The latest global treatment protocols for breast cancer were provided within the initiative by 14 medical centres affiliated with the Ministry of Health and Population, Abdel Ghaffar said.
