Egypt’s Cairo Opera House opened online ticket sales for the 34th edition of the Citadel International Festival for Music and Singing, which will run from August 15 to 24.
Tickets, priced at LE100 ($2), will be available through the Tazkarti platform, the opera house said in a statement.
The ticket includes entry to the historic Saladin Citadel and admission to two concerts each day, featuring prominent Egyptian and Arab singers and musicians, according to Opera House chief Reda el-Wakil.
The festival is expected to welcome around 5,000 people daily, with the organisers saying they had completed preparations covering stages, sound and lighting systems, audience reception, security and visitor services.
“The ticket price has been kept within reach of all segments of society,” El-Wakil said, adding that the online booking system was introduced to facilitate access and improve the organisation of cultural events.
The festival aims to promote classical and serious music and strengthen Egypt’s cultural influence, presenting a programme that combines established artists with young bands in the historic setting of the citadel, the statement said.
