Participants of the late leader Gamal Abdel Nasser’s Fellowship for International Leadership visited the Police Academy on Monday.

The third batch of the fellowship, entitled “Non-Aligned Youth and South-South Cooperation”, is organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi during May 31 to June 17, 2022 at The Engineering Authority House, in Cairo.

Major General Hani Abu Al-Makarem, Assistant Minister of Interior and Head of the Police Academy, and a number of Police Academy leaders welcomed the delegates.

Major General Abu Al-Makarem conveyed the greetings of Major General Mahmoud Tawfik, Minister of Interior, to the participants.

The visit aimed at strengthening co-operation and bridging gaps of communication with all institutions and bodies from different countries of the world.

Moreover, it embodies the co-operation between Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Youth and Sports in training youth cadres from all over the world.

“It’s a great experience for me to visit the academy, listening to an explanation about the security challenges the region is suffering,” Hamdi Ahmed, a Libyan civil engineer and a participant in the fellowship, told The Egyptian Gazette.

He appraised the role of the Egyptian police officers in securing their homeland, as well as training the officers of friendly countries.

The visitors also watched a documentary film reviewing the activities of the academy with its various entities, followed by an inspection tour inside the academy, during which the fellowship participants inspected the academy’s facilities and the capabilities it boasts that made it at the forefront of institutions concerned with specialized security training at the regional and international level.

They also visited the Police Research Center, where their role in training security cadres from friendly African and foreign countries and its police research activities were identified as the specialized scientific body in the ministry.
