Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Mohamed Farid, discussed on Saturday with the Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of UAE-based Al-Futtaim Group, Omar Al-Futtaim, ways to bolster the Group’s investments in Egypt and probe new expansion opportunities across sectors.
During the meeting, Minister Farid reaffirmed the government’s commitment to creating an attractive investment environment that supports existing investors and encourages companies to expand and increase their capital injections.
He highlighted ongoing efforts to digitise and simplify procedures across the investment ecosystem, reduce administrative burdens and accelerate transactions, with improving the “investor journey” a key priority in enhancing Egypt’s investment climate.
The minister also outlined a more targeted approach to investor engagement, involving direct outreach to companies and sectors aligned with available investment opportunities.
Discussions covered potential co-operation with Al-Futtaim Group in logistics, the development and management of commercial and administrative complexes, energy projects and expansion within investment zones.
The meeting also explored establishing logistics projects to support industrial and commercial companies, strengthen supply chains and improve access to foreign markets, with Minister Farid stressing the importance of selecting appropriate locations and maximising available investment incentives and benefits.
For his part, Al-Futtaim welcomed the Egyptian government’s efforts to improve the investment climate and reaffirmed the group’s commitment to expanding its operations and investments in Egypt while exploring new opportunities.
He noted that Egypt has been a key market for the group for 50 years, expressing the group’s intention to sustain long-term investment, pursue new opportunities, support business growth and contribute to Egypt’s economic development.
