Egyptian Transport Minister Kamel el Wazir Sunday honored 27 workers for their commitment to rules and instructions of the Railway Authority.
The workers had helped prevent imminent accidents and saved lives of passengers.

One of those honored was a driver who had successfully stopped his train before colliding with two cars as they crossed from a “no-crossing” point between the stations of el Kom el Ahmar and Bashteel el Balad, a statement by the Transport Ministry said.
Another driver was also honored for his successful effort to stop his train before hitting a car as it crossed the train tracks from a “no-crossing” point between the stations of Awlad Seif and Belbeis, the statement added.
A number of tower observers were also honored for their positive response in situations that could have led to disasters, the statement further said.
