President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has directed the head of the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) to study the establishment of a strategic stockpile of essential supplies to ensure the country’s readiness to deal with potential emergencies.
The proposed stockpile would be established in coordination with all state agencies and institutions.
The directive to this effect came during a meeting on Saturday with Mohamed Abdel Rahman Rabie, head of the Armed Forces Operations Authority and head of NCEMA; chairman of the Arab Organisation for Industrialisation Mohamed Abdel Fattah Abu Bakr, and senior military officials.
Discussions during the meeting reviewed the executive measures being taken by NCEMA in co-operation with various state agencies and institutions, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed el-Shennawy said.
Sisi directed all state institutions to expedite the entry of their respective data into the authority’s information system.
He stressed the need to ensure the accuracy of the submitted data to build a reliable database that would support sound decision-making. He also underscored the importance of maintaining the confidentiality of the information, Shennawy concluded.
