The 2nd Dragon Forum 2022 ‘E-mobility and Value-added Enhancement Mechanisms for the National Industry’ started on Tuesday.
A number of experts and manufacturers of rolling stock and feeder industries took part in the forum, organised by the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (EJUST) in co-operation with the Ministry of Transport and the Academy of Scientific Research in Borg el-Arab.
Dragon Forum is a platform for dialogue and constructive interaction among all those involved in the transportation industry.
Japanese Ambassador to Egypt Oka Hiroshi took part in the event by video conference, along with President of the EJUST University Dr Omar Adly.
Dr Adly said in his address to the event that the transport industry is witnessing great development worldwide due to the shift from traditional means of transport that runs on the internal combustion engine to electric transport, which necessitates alterations to production lines, supply chains and infrastructure.
Dr Adly said his university’s interest in holding this forum stems from its role in serving the community, and based on its conviction that scientific research is an essential asset for the progress of societies and achieving sustainable economic growth.
The E-mobility industry represents a great opportunity for local industries to adapt to the requirements of this technology by increasing the proportion of its local component; it is also a major challenge due to the lack of infrastructure for the industry in many countries.
