Egyptian Youth and Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhi received on Monday the mission of the Egyptian national Olympic football team after the players had returned from Morocco.
The under-23 team nabbed the second place in the championship and managed to snatch the silver medal in the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations and qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
In a message to the players, Sobhi said “We are receiving you as champions. Thank you. We await you in Paris to make a superb performance….I am very proud of you.”
Egypt’s team aimed to win the title for the second time in their history and for the second time in a row.
The team won the title in 2019, defeating Ivory Coast in the final.
Morocco’s team, on the other hand, were aiming to win the title for the first time in their history.
