Egyptian Social Solidarity Minister Nevine El Kabbag said on Wednesday that the government took several measures in support of needy families.
In press statements, Kabbag said the state will pay nearly one billion pounds a month in aid to nearly 37 million citizens, including needy families, pensioners and public servants, for the next six months.
The minister noted that beneficiaries of the Takaful and Karama cash-support program will increase to 5 million families upon directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
Upon Sisi’s directives, the state will also offer subsidized food boxes and meat of sacrificed animals for the poor families, the minister noted.
The state’s budget allocated LE8.5 billion for the social protection programs, the minister noted.
