Sisi says Egypt did not bow to pressure on human rights

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi asserted that Egypt did not bow to any kind of pressure when it took steps towards human rights and non-discrimination.

Sisi’s remarks came during his participation on Tuesday in a simulation session of the UN Human Rights Council that was held on the sidelines of the World Youth Forum (WYF) in the Red Sea Resort City of Sharm El Sheikh.

The president said that diversity and differences among people and countries are normal, expressing fear that color or same political stripes worldwide could be seen as a kind of “arrogance by practice”.

He noted that some of the coronavirus precautionary measures taken by western countries were against the principles and concepts that those countries perceive as being within human rights, such as freedom of movement and freedom of vaccination.

President Sisi explained that the world health crisis revealed that human rights are only limited to freedom of expression and political practice.
