Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi said 20 agreements were signed during his recent tour of South Korea, Malaysia and Indonesia, from Ocrober 6 to 11.
Speaking after arriving back in Egypt early on Monday, Sisi praised the official and popular welcome he received during the trip.
He said the countries he visited showed a strong desire to strengthen co-operation with Egypt, adding that Cairo was ready to conclude further agreements and establish joint investments in key sectors.
Areas under consideration include petrochemicals, agriculture, car manufacturing and fishing, Sisi said at Cairo airport.
The Egyptian president added he hoped agreements reached during the tour would be implemented quickly, the Middle East News Agency reported.
Sisi thanked the Egyptian people, saying he had seen the high regard in which Egypt and its people are held during his visits.
He said the recognition reflected Egypt’s civilisational and political standing internationally. He also thanked the delegation that accompanied him and praised its efforts.
The countries he visited respected Egypt’s political course and appreciated Cairo’s approach to foreign policy, Sisi said. Restraint and control over reactions were important factors in strengthening other countries’ respect for Egypt, he added.
Sisi said Egypt’s longstanding civilisational history and moderate, balanced political approach had helped it maintain a strong standing. He said the country’s political stability, despite economic challenges, was appreciated internationally.
The willingness of the countries he visited to expand economic co-operation and joint investment reflected their confidence in Egypt’s economy and its promising opportunities, he said.
Sisi expressed hope that the tour’s results would lead to fruitful partnerships and broader economic ties.
