Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi called for an immediate de-escalation in Gaza, after speaking with the president of Cyprus.
President Sisi and Cypriot President, Nikos Christodoulides agreed on the gravity of the situation, given the severity of the humanitarian repercussions on civilians as well as the consequences of expanding the cycle of the conflict on stability in the region.
The President also reviewed Egypt’s all-out efforts to deescalate the situation and offer humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
Sisi also stressed the need for the international community to work together to ensure that humanitarian assistance reaches the people of Gaza. He also called for a comprehensive and sustainable solution to the Palestinian issue.
The calls for a ceasefire come as the violence in Gaza shows no signs of abating.
