President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has stressed the need to continue developing Egypt’s civil aviation system by modernising airport infrastructure, improving service efficiency and maintaining the highest safety and security standards.

The efforts aim to further boost the competitiveness of Egyptian airports regionally and internationally and increase private-sector participation in their management and operation, he said.

El-Sisi made the remarks during a meeting he held on Sunday with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh El-Hefny and Presidential Adviser for Financial Affairs Lieutenant General Ahmed El-Shazly.

The president directed that the new Terminal 4 at Cairo International Airport be built to the highest international standards in design, technology, sustainability and operational efficiency, making it a distinguished global model for modern airports.

He also called for stronger strategic partnerships to attract greater foreign direct investment to the civil aviation sector through integrated investment zones around Egyptian airports.

El-Sisi further stressed the need to monitor complaints concerning airport services and address them swiftly and seriously to improve the travel experience and boost passengers’ confidence.

The meeting reviewed ongoing efforts to modernise airport infrastructure, expand capacity and improve passenger services.

For his part, El-Hefny outlined the ministry’s future plans to meet the requirements of Egypt’s comprehensive development, keep pace with the growth of global tourism and travel, and capitalise on the country’s strategic geographical position.

He said the new terminal would have an annual capacity of around 40 million passengers, representing a major expansion of Cairo International Airport and supporting Egypt’s ambition to become a leading regional hub for aviation, transport and logistics.

The terminal will incorporate advanced international concepts in airport design and operations, including artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and smart and sustainable operating systems, while meeting the highest environmental standards.
