Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi stressed the deeply-rooted historical relations between Egypt and Yemen. He affirmed Cairo’s firm stance on supporting Yemen’s unity and sovereignty and the integrity of its national institutions. The president noted that Egypt encourages all efforts that seek to conclude an overall and sustainable political solution, to preserve this unity of its legitimate institutions.
The president made these remarks during his meeting with Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) in Yemen Rashad Al-Alimi on Wednesday.
During the meeting, Al-Alimi briefed President Sisi on the latest developments on the Yemeni scene, and the ongoing efforts to reach a political solution to the Yemeni crisis.
Al-Alimi highly appreciated Egypt’s unwavering support to the efforts aiming to conclude a political settlement that would help restore security and stability in Yemen and alleviate the severe humanitarian crises in the country, Presidency Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said.
