NEW DELHI- Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi arrived in India on Friday to participate in the 2023 G20 New Delhi summit.
In statements, Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said President Sisi’s participation in the summit comes at an invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whose country assumed the G20 Presidency on December 1, 2022.
During his participation in the Summit, President Sisi is scheduled to focus on a host of issues of common interest for developing countries, in general and African countries, in particular.
Sisi will stress the importance of promoting international efforts to facilitate the integration of developing countries in global economy that in turn will provide the opportunities and mutual advantages that contribute to attracting investments and achieving economic growth and development for all parties.
He will stress as well the need to provide support to developing countries to help them in achieving the sustainable development goals, taking into account the negative impacts on the economy, food, and energy caused by many successive global crises.
Sisi will also stress the necessity of developed countries’ commitment to honoring their pledges within the framework of international agreements and mechanisms to fight climate change and enable developing countries to rely more on the use of new and renewable energy resources.
On the sidelines of his participation in the G20 summit, President Sisi is set to hold one-on-one meetings with international leaders and officials on a wide range of issues, according to the spokesman.
