Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co‑operation, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty held a phone call with Mauritanian Foreign Minister Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug on Thursday to discuss ways to strengthen co‑operation between the two countries.
According to Foreign Ministry spokesman Nader Zaki, Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s keenness to further develop bilateral ties across various sectors and build on the outcomes of the second session of the Egyptian‑Mauritanian Joint Committee, which was held in Nouakchott in May 2025.
The minister stressed the importance of expanding trade and economic co‑operation and making greater use of the capabilities of both countries, as well as the expertise of Egyptian companies operating across a range of sectors.
Abdelatty also praised the close co‑ordination between Egypt and Mauritania on regional and international issues, particularly Arab and African affairs and shared development priorities.
The two ministers agreed to intensify co‑ordination and co‑operation within international forums in support of their development objectives and ongoing efforts to preserve security and stability in the region.
