The State Information Service (SIS) called on Arab and international media, as well as social media platforms, to verify information before publishing reports on the targeting of the vessel TIHAMA off Yemen’s coast.
SIS stressed that claims linking the vessel to Egypt are unfounded. The Transport Ministry clarified that TIHAMA is registered under the Tanzanian flag, owned by a Yemeni national, and operated by Blue Sea for Management Marine through its Dubai branch. It is not registered in Egypt’s shipping chambers, has no licence to operate in Egypt, has never entered Egyptian ports, was not en route to Egypt, and carried no cargo belonging to Egyptians.
The statement emphasised that official data from the Egyptian Transport Ministry is the authoritative source for information on ships, navigation and ports. SIS underlined that accuracy and reliance on official sources are professional responsibilities, particularly in matters concerning maritime security and regional developments.
