The State Information Service (SIS) has published the document issued by the National Identity Conference, organised by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina from 21 to 23 September 2026 under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El‑Sisi, in Arabic, English, French, Spanish and Chinese.
The move aims to make the conference’s outcomes available to media outlets, researchers and interested audiences in Egypt and abroad, while promoting Egypt’s vision on national identity issues to a wider international audience.
The document highlights key pillars of Egyptian national identity, including the unity of Egypt’s territory, the Arabic language, spiritual and moral values, cultural heritage, national symbols, citizenship and belonging.
It also addresses challenges facing national identity, including digital transformation, misinformation and factors affecting social cohesion and awareness among young people, while stressing the importance of strengthening societal resilience.
The document outlines strategic goals to reinforce national identity, including preserving Egypt’s cultural and historical heritage, enhancing the role of the Arabic language, fostering creativity and innovation among youth, promoting shared values, respecting diversity and cultural rights, and encouraging engagement with the wider world.
It concludes by calling for the translation of ideas and discussions into practical programmes through government institutions, civil society organisations and individual initiatives, while advocating continued dialogue on national identity involving governorates, universities, youth centres, media institutions and Egyptians abroad.
