Chairman of the State Information Service (SIS), Ambassador Alaa Youssef, and Capital University President Sayed Kandil have inaugurated a student seminar titled “Youth and Awareness” in co-operation with the Giza Media Centre.

The event was attended by Vice President Walid El-Sorougy, Head of the Internal Media Sector Tamer Shams El-Din, and a large number of students.

Kandil emphasised that raising student awareness is a top priority, noting that university students are partners in shaping the nation’s future.

He said such events aim to equip young people with the knowledge and analytical skills needed to distinguish facts from rumours in the digital age, thereby strengthening their resilience against attempts to undermine national stability.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Youssef stressed that awareness entails a comprehensive understanding of reality and its challenges, serving as a shield against extremist ideas and misinformation.

He also warned of the dangers of fourth- and fifth-generation warfare, which target societies through psychological, media and cyber tools rather than traditional military means. He underlined the SIS’s role in countering misinformation and raising public awareness through its internal media centres, publications and outreach activities across Egypt.

The seminar featured an open dialogue between Youssef and the students, who raised questions about national and societal issues, reflecting their interest in engaging with current challenges and learning how to respond consciously to rapid changes.

The initiative underscores the SIS’s commitment to engaging young people, raising awareness and strengthening national resilience.
