The international declaration of the Greatest Transfiguration Project will be made in a huge celebration in Saint Catherine on December 9-10.
Governor of the South Sinai Khaled Foda directed the authorities concerned to raise the level of maximum preparedness across the governorate to get ready for the biggest event to be held under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
It coincides with the annual celebration of Saint Catherine’s Martyrdom Day, on December 8 each year.
The ministries of tourism and antiquities, immigration, foreign affairs and religious endowments will organise the celebration in co-operation with South Sinai governorate.
Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli will open the project in the presence of a number of ministers and ambassadors from different countries.
The Greatest Transfiguration project includes the development of the monastery, Jabal Musa, Wadi Al-Deir, and the path of the Prophet Moses from Wadi Al-Raha to the sacred bush tree, in addition to the path of Moses from Mount Sinai to Mount Sharia through Wadi Habran.
The project also includes the restoration and development of the monastery’s library and sub-churches, as well as the protection of these buildings against the dangers of fire and floods.
