NEW YORK– Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Hany Sowialam has underlined the need to focus on strengthening cooperation on transboundary water management as a main pillar for propelling social and economic development.
The minister’s remarks came on Friday during his participation at a session, on the sidelines of the United Nations Midterm Review of the Water Decade, held in New York, to review efforts on transboundary water management in Africa.
He pointed out that the African Union’s Agenda 2063 can be only achieved through boosting sustainable management of transboundary water, underling the need to enhance effective and fruitful cooperation to improve water management.
The minister also lauded Team Europe Initiative on Transboundary Water Management in Africa. (MENA)
