CAIRO — President of the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) Hany Abo Rida, members of the EFA Board of Directors, the national team’s technical staff, players and members of Egypt’s delegation participating in the 2026 FIFA World Cup extended sincere appreciation and gratitude to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi for his congratulatory message to the team and his continued support for Egyptian youth in various fields.
EFA Board of Directors in a statement issued on Monday said that the association affirms that this significant support represents a strong incentive to continue working and giving its best.
The national team will spare no effort to honor Egyptian football and raise Egypt’s name high at continental and international competitions, in line with the aspirations of the Egyptian people and as part of the ongoing journey of achievements that reflects Egypt’s standing and leadership in sports, the statement read.
Earlier on Monday, Egypt recorded the first World Cup victory in its history after defeating New Zealand 3-1 in Vancouver, Canada, in the second round of Group G at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, currently hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
