President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has lauded the growing momentum in the ties between Egypt and Russia, mainly in terms of trade exchange, and joint projects.
Foremost among such projects is the Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant, in addition to establishing a Russian industrial zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), as well as other initiatives that reflect the deep-rooted ties between the two nations.
President Sisi received on Monday Aide to the President of Russia and Chairman of the Maritime Board of the Russian Federation,Nikolai Patrushev, and an accompanying high-level delegation.
During the meeting, that was attended by a host of Egyptian ministers, and senior Russian officials, Sisi voiced Egypt’s pride in its strategic relations with the Russian Federation, affirming his high regard for Russian President Vladimir Putin, said Presidency Spokesman Mohamed El-Shennawy.
During the meeting, Patrushev conveyed greetings from President Putin and stressed Moscow’s commitment to further strengthening co-operation with Egypt.
He also affirmed Russia’s keenness to carry on with joint work to activate the provisions of the strategic partnership and implement the understandings agreed between the two countries’ leaderships, whether during the President Sisi’s visit to Russia in May 2025 or through telephone contacts between the two presidents, most recently on 31 March 2026.
Talks also covered opportunities to expand co-operation in several sectors, including maritime navigation.
The two sides reviewed the status of current joint projects and discussed potential new initiatives, alongside meetings being held between the Russian delegation and relevant Egyptian authorities.
Meanwhile, Patrushev commended Egypt’s regional role and President El Sisi’s efforts, affirming Russia’s support and its commitment to maintaining close coordination with Egypt at all levels.
