DUBAI – Egypt faced daunting challenges after 2011, however it successfully managed to confront such challenges, affirmed Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

The challenges which faced Egypt were numerous and had to be confronted simultaneously, added President Sisi during his speech Monday at the World Government Summit (WGS), which is currently in session in the UAE.

The first challenge which confronted the Egyptian State was represented in the state of fragmentation, disintegration and loss of hope which prevailed among Egyptians, said President Sisi.

Several challenges faced the State, said President Sisi, noting that the energy crisis was a major problem.

President Sisi went on to say that he announced that the electricity problem which gripped Egypt for seven years should be resolved immediately.

The government has allocated EGP 1.8 trillion to the electricity sector over the past years in order to confront the energy crisis which gripped the country, he further said.

President Sisi, meanwhile, emphasized the importance of interacting with the nations to cast a spotlight on the daunting challenges besetting the countries.

The Egyptian experiment is of special nature, as the people in Egypt could not bear the continuation of the electricity crisis for another year.

Egypt has experienced chaos following 2011, he said, noting that its cost amounted to about dlrs 450 billion.
