Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi called on all to cooperate to protect agricultural lands and stop violations and unplanned building on them.
President Sisi arrived in the 6th of October city on Saturday morning to inaugurate alternative residential units projects for residents of unsafe areas.
Upon arrival, Sisi was received by Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Assem el Gazar and senior State officials as well as Armed Forces commanders.
Commenting on remarks of Chairman of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Ihab el Far while inaugurating alternative housing units projects for residents of unsafe areas in the 6th of October city on Saturday, Sisi warned that Egypt is losing more useful agricultural lands because of building violations.
Sisi called for capitalizing on desert lands, which represent nearly 90% % of the total area of Egypt.
The president underscored the necessity of raising public awareness about the issue. The State or the government is not the only body responsible for stopping unplanned building on agricultural lands, according to the president.
Meanwhile, Sisi called for benefiting from lands, which are owned by the government or governorates or ministries to carry out services projects or craft areas in order to provide more job opportunities.
Sisi termed the issue as an “issue of a State,” urging media outlets to share a comprehensive and future vision on it and not to talk only about the State’s negligence while covering this issue.
