CAIRO – Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli witnessed the inking of a usufruct contract for Intro Holding in the Sokhna integrated industrial zone, an affiliate to the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), to establish Kemet Data Centre.
The center is meant to present services of cloud solutions, internet of things (IoT) and digital transformation.
Minister of Communications Amr Talaat attended the event alongside SCZone Chairman Walid Gamal Eddin.
Madbouli underlined the pivotal role of date centers in pushing forward the digital development in Egypt within the framework of Egypt Vision 2030 which is meant to turn Egypt into a regional and international hub for innovation and technology.
He said the state seeks to secure an investment-attractive climate in the data centers domain, highlighting interest in training national cadres to be able to work in this pivotal domain.
For his part, SCZone Chairman Gamal Eddin said the zone seeks encouraging date centers projects to meet the growing need of cloud services, IoT and digital transformation.
The project is meant to localize such important service industry contributing to making use of the zone’s strategic location where a large part of submarine communications cables extend in the region, he said, adding that this will contribute to boosting foreign investments in the zone.
Meanwhile, Board Chairman of Intro Holding Mamdouh Abbas said the center will play a key role in realizing digital transformation goals in Egypt under Egypt Vision 2030.
He added that the center will offer up-to-date services and technological solutions, noting that it aims to place Egypt at the forefront in the cloud services domain in the region.
