CAIRO – Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli asserted that public health is a top priority in Egypt’s human development strategy, with strong attention from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi toward building human capital and achieving Egypt’s Sustainable Development Vision 2030.

He stressed the importance of optimizing all available national resources and promoting coordination across ministries and relevant entities.

The remarks came during the opening of the third edition of the Global Conference on Population, Health and Human Development (PHDC’25) in the New Capital, which runs until November 15 under the rubric “empowering individuals, enhancing progress, providing opportunities”.

Madbouli highlighted the presidential initiative “A New Beginning for Human Development” as a pioneering model integrating health, education and social protection aiming at empowering citizens and improving quality of life.

He pointed to key national achievements, including the “100 Million Health” initiative, which provided comprehensive healthcare services to over 95% of the population, reducing infant mortality rates by 30%.

He also highlighted the National Population and Development Strategy 2023-2030, which seeks to balance positive population characteristics while enhancing quality of life, with a special focus on youth empowerment, digital skills, and lifelong learning, noting that youth make up 60% of Egypt’s population.

Madbouli underscored the role of the National Human Development Project and the “Decent Life” initiative in developing rural communities by integrating health, education and social protection.

PHDC’25 features integrated themes that place human development at the core of public policy, addressing global health issues through the intersection of health, education, housing and the economy, while ensuring universal health coverage, improved healthcare financing and governance and strengthening the health workforce.
