Egypt’s Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli held a high-level meeting to track the execution and development of Ras El Hekma City, an Egyptian major project on the North Coast in Matrouh Governorate.

Kamel el-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, Sherif El Sherbiny, Minister of Housing and Urban Communities, Khaled Shoeib, Governor of Matrouh, attended the meeting.

“The meeting reflects the government’s strong commitment to the Ras el Hekma project, recognizing its strategic role in attracting investments, creating job opportunities, and adding value to the Egyptian economy,” said the Cabinet Spokesman, Ambassador Mohamed al-Homosani.

Al-Homosani said that the meeting focused on two key aspects: compensation and relocation procedures for affected residents and reviewing progress on investment projects, particularly in hospitality and infrastructure development.

According to him, the discussions covered the compensation allocated for the Ras el Hekma area, with a total of LE6 billion designated for this purpose, ensuring fair and just compensation for affected individuals.

The prime minister was updated about Shams El Hekma area, which the government has designated as an alternative housing site for relocated families.

“Updates included the development of essential infrastructure such as water and sewage networks, as well as primary and secondary road systems,” Homosani said.

He noted that discussions at the meeting centered on the development of educational facilities and services for tribal communities, as well as housing reallocation in Shams El Hekma’s initial phase.

Homosani stated that measures are underway to simplify legal processes, ensure timely compensation, and issue building permits to residents.
