Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli had a meeting on Tuesday night with Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation El Sayed el-Quseir to review a number of files related to the Agriculture Ministry’s efforts to face urban encroachments on agricultural lands nationwide.
During the meeting, the agriculture minister noted that a decision was taken to set up committees in several governorates to be in charge of facing encroachments on agricultural lands.
This decision has greatly contributed to reduce encroachments on agricultural land, the minister added.
He further noted that he had talks with a Saudi delegation, grouping representatives of the environment, water and agriculture ministries and the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA).
The minister said that they discussed the modern Egyptian system for coding farms and export entities, and tracking agricultural export shipments, which is applied by the Egyptian agricultural quarantine.
The two sides also reviewed the outcome of applying this system on all exports to EU countries and most of the world countries, like Japan, Australia, New Zealand, China, America and Canada.
The minister also reviewed the implementation of the national project for the cultivation of sugarcane with seedlings.
