Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli chaired on Thursday a meeting to expound tourism opportunities at the Pyramids Plateau in the presence of a galaxy of statesmen, including Tourism and Antiquities Minister Sherif Fathi and Housing Minister Sherif el Sherbini.

Madbouli said two important meetings will take place today; one for the development of area surrounding Pyramids Plateau and the second for the development of downtown Cairo.

He added that a group of investors will take part in the two meetings to explore available tourism investments.

Madbouli said several consultancy offices were invited to present a general outline of the area and listen to their views over ways to benefit from these tourist areas.

Head of the National Center for Planning State Land Uses Naser Fawzi said there are vast empty areas overlooking the Giza Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum that need to be developed to maximize the area’s potential as a global tourist attraction.

Chairman of the General Federation of Tourism Chambers Hossam el-Shaer expected the arrival of big number of tourist delegations with the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, calling for increasing the number of hotel rooms in the area.

He also expounded his vision for the development of Nazlet el Semman area in Giza, saying the inhabitants expressed willingness to take part in any development plan.

Nazlet el Semman area is now inhabited by 70,000 who mainly depend on tourism as their main income. They own horse stables, papyrus galleries, oriental bazaars, and kiosks that sell antiquities to tourists.
