Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly stressed the important role of the National Centre for Planning State Land Uses (NCPSLU), an affiliate of the Egyptian Cabinet, in supporting the government’s efforts to develop integrated land-use plans and maximise the use of state resources and assets in line with national development priorities.

Madbouly said the centre’s work helps ensure the best possible use of available land and directs it towards economically and developmentally appropriate activities.

He made the remarks during a meeting on Monday at the government headquarters in the New Capital to review the work of the NCPSLU. The meeting was attended by Lt Gen Nasser Fawzy, director of the centre, and Lt Gen Mohamed Radwan, deputy director.

Fawzy reviewed a number of issues currently under study as part of efforts to replan certain areas and prepare them for redevelopment and reuse, ensuring optimal land use and maximising economic returns.

He said the centre is studying existing developments and activities in four industrial areas in Sharqia Governorate, covering a combined area of more than 5,274 feddans. The areas are Al-Madina Al-Monawara, the Arab Engineers Association, Belbeis Expansions and Abu Atian.

The studies aim to develop an integrated vision for the proposed uses of the areas, ensuring diversity and complementarity among industrial, logistics, agricultural, service, recreational, religious, residential and administrative activities, as well as other uses suited to the nature and needs of each area.

The plans are also intended to support development and investment, expand productive activities and create jobs, Fawzy said.

He presented the targeted economic vision for the four areas following the proposed replanning of their land uses, including their potential to attract investment, expand productive activities and create jobs.

The meeting also reviewed the findings and key indicators of a study on the use of reclaimed land, as well as plans to repurpose such land for sustainable development and production projects.

The plans seek to maximise returns from reclaimed land and other state assets and ensure their optimal use in line with national development plans and priorities.

Concluding the meeting, Madbouly directed the continued completion of studies and plans for land-replanning and reuse projects, along with close coordination with the relevant authorities to expedite the finalisation of the proposed land uses.

He also directed that the findings of the studies be translated into actual projects capable of generating economic and development returns, with regular follow-up on progress in implementing these projects.
