Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Karim Badawy launched on Wednesday Egypt’s 2026 international tender for crude oil and gas exploration, covering 14 new blocks open to global and local companies. The initiative aims to attract fresh investment, boost domestic production and meet five‑year targets.
The tender, opened on Tuesday August 11, includes eight areas under EGAS in the Mediterranean, Nile Delta and North Sinai, with applications closing on 14 December 2026, and six areas under EGPC in the Gulf of Suez, Sinai and the Western Desert, with applications closing on 11 November 2026.
Blocks are offered digitally through the Egypt Exploration and Production Gateway (eug.petroleum.gov.eg) under a production‑sharing framework, ensuring transparency and competitiveness. Companies can access technical data, submit queries and lodge bids online.
Badawy emphasised that many of the offered areas are close to existing fields and infrastructure, reducing development costs and enabling faster integration of new discoveries into production. He noted the geological diversity of the blocks provides attractive opportunities for current operators and new entrants, reinforcing Egypt’s strategy to expand upstream investment, increase hydrocarbon output and strengthen energy security.
