Chairman of the National Press Authority (NPA), Abdel-Sadek El-Shorbagy, and Chairman of the State Information Service (SIS), Ambassador Alaa Youssef, probed on Thursday the ongoing efforts to strengthen coordination and integration in support of Egypt’s journalistic and media landscape.
As the meeting started, El-Shorbagy congratulated Youssef on assuming his new post, as SIS chief, wishing him continued success in advancing the responsibilities entrusted to him over the coming period.
Discussions between the NPA and the SIS chiefs focused on mechanisms to further enhance joint co-operation between the two institutions across the media and press sectors, with a view to delivering a balanced and responsible media message that reflects the priorities and vision of the Egyptian state at both the domestic and international levels- particularly in light of the complex and evolving regional developments.
For his part, Ambassador Youssef underscored the importance of sustained coordination with the Press Authority, highlighting the pivotal role of the media as a key national instrument in shaping public awareness, presenting facts with clarity, countering misinformation and rumors, and addressing hostile narratives aimed at undermining the state’s achievements across various sectors.
