In accordance with directives from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar held a meeting to discuss the plan and stages of work for a new health initiative, in preparation for its launch during the coming period.
Ministry spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghafar said the Minister reviewed a presentation on the new initiative of which mental health is one of its foundations.
He pointed out that the new initiative is divided into three sub-initiatives, early detection of autism spectrum disorders, combat excessive use of the Internet and electronic games and an initiative aims to combat addiction treatment.
Abdel Ghaffar said early detection of autism spectrum disorders will target the children at 18 months as well as providing advice for follow up and prevention.
However, the combat excessive use of the Internet and electronic games target children between 10-18 years and young adults of 18-25 years.
The initiative aims to combat addiction treatment targets the students in preparatory and secondary school as they are the most vulnerable group.
