The National Council for Women (NCW) has launched the “Noura” programme in Alexandria, Giza, and Aswan governorates as part of the National Project for Egyptian Family Development, in co-operation with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the European Union, and within the national framework for investing in girls, under the patronage of First Lady Entissar El Sisi.

Programme coordinator Sherine Maher said the initiative aims to develop girls’ personal and social skills, promote values of equality, and enhance their effective participation in society, contributing to the preparation of a generation capable of facing challenges and achieving sustainable development.

She added that launching “Noura” in these governorates represents a key step toward empowering girls, particularly in the most underserved villages, by providing opportunities to acquire knowledge and skills that support their future development and strengthen their role within both family and community.

The programme targets girls aged 10 to 14 over a 40-week period and includes training sessions and workshops focused on developing health, social, and economic skills, in addition to enhancing self-expression and building well-rounded personalities.

The NCW is also continuing to implement the programne in other governorates, including Assiut, Sohag, Dakahlia, and Beni Suef, as well as El-Asmarat district in Cairo.
