CAIRO – President of Egypt’s Council for Human Rights (NCHR) Moushira Khattab hailed the parliament and government’s initiative, represented by members of parliament and senate and Social Solidarity Ministry, to extend the period of legalizing the status of NGOs for additional six months instead of a deadline set on January 11.
In a press release, the council called on the members of parliament and senate to approve the amendment proposed before the deadline in order to allow the NGOs to legalize their status.
She said that such initiative reflects President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s announcement to consider 2022 as the civil society year.
