Egypt’s Minister of State for Military Production Mohamed Salah Eddin Mostafa on Saturday discussed with Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi ways of boosting cooperation between the two ministries in several domains.
This came during a meeting held at the Ministry of Military Production headquarters in the Government District in the New Administrative Capital.
During the meeting, Salah Eddin highlighted joint efforts between the two ministries, particularly in the production of prepaid gas meters, with the aim of conserving national resources and promoting the culture of rational gas consumption.
He said that the meeting reflects both sides’ commitment to implementing President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives to enhance constructive cooperation between state institutions and leveraging national manufacturing capabilities to develop local production.
Salah Eddin praised the key role of the Petroleum Ministry in securing oil and natural gas supplies through expanding exploration activities, diversifying sources, adjusting the energy mix, and maximizing the added value of natural resources.
He highlighted the ongoing cooperation in converting buses to operate on natural gas instead of diesel, under a contract signed by the ministries of Military Production, Local Development, Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and Finance, along with the Cairo and Alexandria public transport authorities.
The agreement covers the conversion of 2,262 buses in six phases (377 buses per phase). The first phase has been completed, and the second phase is currently under way and scheduled for completion in December 2025, Salah Eddin added.
For his part, Badawi lauded the fruitful cooperation and continuous integration with the Ministry of Military Production in several domains and making use of the resources and capabilities of its affiliated companies and units.
Such cooperation supports the Petroleum Ministry’s development plan and maximizes the use of local resources, ultimately benefiting people and serving the public interest, Badawi said.
He underscored the Petroleum Ministry’s keenness to expand cooperation with Military Production in projects with significant economic impact.
Meanwhile, both sides agreed on the importance of regular follow up on joint underway projects and addressing any challenges that may occur during implementation.
