Egypt’s Minister of State for Military Production Salah Soliman Gombalat held talks on Monday with Chairman of the General Organisation for Export and Import Control (GOEIC) Essam El Naggar to discuss aspects of joint co-operation.
The meeting took place at the Ministry of Military Production’s training sector headquarters in Al Salam City.
During the meeting, Gombalat reviewed the advanced technical and technological capabilities of laboratories available at the Scientific and Technological Excellence Centre, the training sector and ministry-affiliated companies, noting that these labs are equipped with the highest standards to conduct required tests for various products in line with international specifications.
The minister stressed the importance of benefiting from GOEIC’s databases to provide the ministry with information on the most prominent products imported from abroad. This would allow for exploring the possibility of manufacturing them locally within military production companies, thereby reducing the import bill and saving foreign currency.
For his part, El Naggar highlighted the authority’s efforts to modernise its databases and introduce advanced programmes to enhance data analysis efficiency, contributing to the provision of accurate information for decision-makers in import and export operations.
He also voiced GOEIC’s hopes to expand co-operation with the ministry in a manner that supports industrial and economic development, lauding the ministry’s advanced laboratory and technological capabilities, which help ensure that goods comply with approved standards and enhance the quality and competitiveness of local products.
