ALGIERS/CAIRO- Minister of Planning and Economic Development and Governor of Egypt at the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group Rania al Mashat arrived in Algeria to participate in the Annual Meetings of the Islamic Development Bank Group for 2025.
The meetings which run from May 19 to 22, are held under the theme “economic diversification, enriching life” and are witnessing wide participation from ministers of finance, economy, planning and international development from the 57 member countries, as well as leaders of global financial institutions, development partners, decision-makers and representatives from the private sector.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation stated that the meetings aim to conduct strategic discussions on proposed sustainable solutions to social and economic challenges facing member states of the IsDB Group. Additionally, the meetings will contribute to supporting development and prosperity worldwide.
Mashat’s participation agenda includes a series of high-level events, such as a roundtable to activate the global partnership for resilience against drought as well as a discussion session on accelerating the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals in the IsDB’s middle-income countries.
Additionally, she will hold several bilateral meetings, including one with Director of the Regional Office for Arab States of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Abdullah Al Dardari, a meeting with President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) Álvaro Lario and a meeting with CEO of the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC) Adeeb Y. Al Aama.
The current talks focus on discussing key issues such as economic diversification, enhancing economic resilience, and supporting innovation as a fundamental driver of development. Additionally, the meetings will review successful development initiatives and institutional achievements that reflect the progress being made by the member countries.
