CAIRO – Egyptian Minister of Emigration and Expatriate Affairs Nabila Makram appreciated the role played by Sheikh Alaa Elzokm, a widely-respected Egyptian Imam at the Elsedeaq Islamic Society in Heidelberg Heights, Melbourne, in entrenching the values of citizenship in the Australian community.

This came during the ministers’ meeting with Sheikh Alaa for talks on means of boosting cooperation over the programs organized by the Ministry of Emigration for the second and third generations of the Egyptian communities abroad.

Assistant Emigration Minister for International Cooperation Mohamed Khairat attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Makram greeted Elzokm on winning the Austrian premier’s prize for cultural diversity, voicing pride over the imam’s ability to elevate Egypt’s name and create a bridge of interaction with the Egyptian youths in Austria.

Meanwhile, the minister’s assistant reviewed the role played by the ministry in several files as well as the initiatives launched by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi especially “Decent Life” initiative to upgrade the Egyptian countryside and the most needy districts.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Elzokm voiced his admiration of the programs organized the ministry to brief emigrant youths on the latest developments taking place in Egypt as well as meeting top Egyptian figures and officials to enhance their communication with their homeland and preserve their national identity.

At the end of the meeting, Makram and Sheikh Elzokm agreed on organizing trips to Egypt for a number of Egyptians living in Australia to be posted on the development process of various sectors in the country.
