Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk and Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) Mokhtar Abdel Latif witnessed Thursday the signing of an agreement to produce organic fertilizer from plant and animal waste.

The agreement was signed between the Arab-British Dynamic Industries Company (ABD), a subsidiary of AOI, and the Agricultural Research Center affiliated with the Ministry of Agriculture.

Farouk hailed the two sides’ extensive cooperation in many fields of mutual interest that aimed at supporting sustainable development efforts in Egypt, emphasizing that such cooperation is essential to advancing Egyptian agriculture and empowering local industry.

He stressed that the Ministry of Agriculture and the Agricultural Research Center would provide full support to expand projects in agricultural manufacturing and environmental protection, in line with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives to localize industries to save foreign currency and reduce the import bill.

The minister also instructed ministry officials to remove any obstacles to the partnership with AOI and to begin immediate implementation of the agreement.

He underscored the importance of agricultural manufacturing in adding value to the national economy, creating job opportunities, and opening new export markets that can bring in foreign currency.

For his part, Abdel Latif affirmed AOI’s commitment to implementing President Sisi’s directives to harness national industrial capabilities and reinforce the “Made in Egypt” slogan, as well as enhancing cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and various public and private sector companies and research centers to implement numerous eco-friendly projects that meet local market needs with competitively priced, environmentally compliant products that adhere to international quality standards.

He stressed the importance of investing in natural resources to achieve environmental sustainability, contributing to job creation and improving living standards in rural areas.

He also noted that biogas technology aims to reuse organic plant and animal waste in an economically viable and health-safe way to produce renewable energy, valuable byproducts, and safe waste disposal through processing and value creation.
