CAIRO – Egypt’s Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Hani Seweilam said on Friday the state pays great attention to the issues of water, climate change and environment.
During a meeting with EU ambassador in Cairo Christian Berger and Dr. Florika Fink-Hooijer, the Director-General of the Environment Department of the European Commission, the minister expressed his ministry’s keenness on cooperation with the EU on all issues related to the water, environment and climate files.
He said Egypt and the EU cooperate on measures aimed at improving water management, environmental conservation and climate adaptation.
They discussed cooperation between the two sides in the water resources management domains as well as the possibility of including new cooperation topics such as expansion in the use of modern irrigation systems and eco-friendly green projects.
He thanked the EU as a strategic partner since the launch of the Cairo Water Week, expressing hope for the continuation of such a fruitful partnership.
