Interior Minister Greets Al Azhar Imam, Awqaf Minister, Egypt’s Mufti on Israa and Miraj Anniversary

CAIRO – Egyptian Interior Minister Mahmoud Tawfik sent a cable of greetings to Grand Imam of Al Azhar Ahmed el Tayyeb on the occasion marking Israa and Miraj anniversary ( the night journey of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).In the cable, the minister shed light on the miraculous religious occasion; the highest honor and divine gift bestowed by Allah on Prophet Muhammad.He wished Egypt as well as other Arab and Islamic nations more security, progress and prosperity.Tawfik also sent a similar cable to Awqaf Minister Osama el Azhari in which he commended efforts exerted by the Awqaf Ministry to spread the upright and moderate teachings of Islam.The minister also extended his sincere greetings to Egypt’s Grand Mufti Nazir Ayyad on this great occasion.Israa and Miraj is observed on the 27th day of the month of Rajab, the seventh month in the Islamic calendar. This event marks the night that Allah took Prophet Muhammad on a journey from Mecca to Jerusalem and then to heaven.
