House of Representatives Speaker Hanafi Gebali asserted support for the steady steps taken by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to protect the rights of the Palestinians and realize an immediate ceasefire.
Speaking at the general session of the House of Representatives, Gebali said all parties concerned, especially the Israeli government, as fully responsible for the dangerous escalation in the occupied Palestinian territories and hampering negotiations to reach a peaceful solution stemming bloodshed.
Gebali said “We are all following up the developments in the occupied Palestinian territories over the past 24 hours as Hamas announced accepting the truce in the Gaza Strip in response to the great Egyptian efforts and the Egyptian-Qatari mediation.”
However, the Israeli government issued an immediate evacuation notification of residents in the eastern areas in the Palestinian city of Rafah in preparations for a land incursion into the city, he said.
The council urged the international community to adopt measures to avoid committing more crimes against the Palestinians.
