Egyptian Minister of Health Khaled Abdel Ghaffar on Tuesday met with South Korean Ambassador to Cairo Hong Jin-wook ahead of the latter’s departure from his post.
Ambassador Hong expressed his gratitude for the efforts by the ministry to promote co-operation between Korea and Egypt in healthcare during his term.
The envoy also mentioned the co-operation between the two countries with regard to personal protection equipment and vaccines during the coronavirus epidemic, which, he said, will set a praiseworthy example for in the event of another health crisis.
The ambassador said his country hopes to expand co-operation with Egypt in health since Egypt is considered as the healthcare hub for the region.
Many Korean companies with cutting-edge technologies are interested in entering the Egyptian market and helping to improve medical services. For his part, the minister said Korea is one of the most important partners in healthcare.
Abdel Ghaffar expressed hope the co-operation will extend to sharing expertise and digitising medical services.
