Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Karim Badawi held talks today with a delegation from Italy’s Eni, led by Egypt Country Manager Francesco Gaspari and Deputy General Manager Mahmoud Abou El-Yazid, to review plans for boosting natural gas production and drilling new wells in the Mediterranean and Nile Delta concessions.
The meeting followed up on preparations to bring the North Nedoco-2 well into production before the end of June, in partnership with BP, adding 50–60 million cubic feet of gas per day. Discussions also covered drilling of the South West Noor well in the Mediterranean, targeted before year-end, and the Tort-6 well operated by the Pharaonic Petroleum Company with BP and Eni.
Talks addressed progress on the Kronos field development in Cyprus, with plans to link its output to Egypt. Badawi emphasized Egypt’s commitment to accelerating technical and contractual procedures with partners to reach a Final Investment Decision, leveraging Egypt’s infrastructure to strengthen its role as a regional gas hub.
